April 8+9- ice fishing at LA, again. Very warm, mostly above zero, t-shirt weather at times. Fish mid-afternoon on, 2/3 spent most of the time set lining, 1/3 got a whitefish on a tiny green and white jig with a glo-orange P-egg and two waxies. Overnight at Tags, crazy nice the next day fished early to late afternoon, no fish. Yukon River mostly open at Marsh Lake bridge-north, still too much ice to comfortably fish at the the bridge. Ice shelves on the river in town, should be fishable very soon.
April 25 - RCMP has been telling people to stay off the lakes so went to The River in town with VaM after dinner. We fished ~1hr between RSC and the pullout: nothing. Still some ice on the shore, low water, saw a few mallards, others, and a pair of ospreys. No one else was fishing. Went over a bit north of the dam on the Riverdale side for another hour or so: nothing there either. Saw one little fish dart away by the shore, a few dippers, ducks, eagle. Pretty clear and not too cold- sweater weather, a few degrees above zero, cooled off after sunset.
April 2-
ReplyDeleteIce fishing at LA. Mostly sunny, warm (maybe -3 to -7), windy. Windy enough to make the auger fly when we tied the shelter to it.
We didn't get anything but apparently there were a lot of people out earlier in the day and it was pretty slow for most everyone.
